RetroSpace: Collected Essays on Chicano Literature is a collection of the seminal articles of the noted critic Bruce-Novoa on the history and theory of Chicano literature. RetroSpace consists of fifteen articles of cultural and literary criticism of Chiano literature written over a fifteen-year period. Among the essays included are “Pluralism vs. Nationalism: U.S. Literature,” “Hispanic Literatures in the United States,” “A Case of Identity: What’s in a Name? Chicanos and riqueños,” “Mexico in Chicano Literature,” and “Chicanos in Mexican Literature.”
Bruce-Novoa has been awarded the Premio Nacional de Literatura José Fuentes Mares, and the Premio Plural for literary criticism.
